TORONTO – Imax has inked a deal with Paramount Pictures and MGM Pictures for a day-and-date release of Brett Ratner's action epic Hercules in its giant-screen theaters on July 25.

The film, co-starring Irina Shayk, Ian McShane and Joseph Fiennes, is getting a wide release from July 25.

"Hercules deserves a platform like the Imax 3D format," said Greg Foster, senior executive vp of Imax Corp. and CEO of Imax Entertainment, in a statement.

Hercules is Ratner's first movie to be screened in the Imax 3D format.

The Paramount/MGM title is produced by Beau Flynn, Barry Levine and Ratner.

Based on Radical Comics' Hercules by Steve Moore, the action movie has a screenplay by Ryan J. Condal and Evan Spiliotopoulos.
