Imax Sinks Teeth Into 'Dracula Untold' for Global Release

The giant screen exhibitor will release the origins story from Universal Pictures and Legendary Pictures, starting on October 2, 2014 internationally.

TORONTO – Imax, Universal Pictures and Legendary Pictures have inked a deal to digitally re-master Dracula Untold and release the movie in giant screen theaters internationally beginning on October 2, 2014.

Imax will also screen the Luke Evans-starrer about the original man to become the world's most famous vampire on its North American screens starting on October 17.

"Dracula is perhaps the most iconic horror story ever told, and this new twist on this classic tale is sure to appeal to Imax audiences around the world," said Greg Foster, CEO of Imax Entertainment and senior executive vp of Imax Corp., in a statement Wednesday.

Gary Shore directs Dracula Untold, with Michael De Luca producing the picture that co-stars Sarah Gadon, Dominic Cooper, Diarmaid Murtagh and Samantha Barks.
