Cine Star Cinema is to open digital screens in multiplexes in Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi, starting in 2013, as the giant screen exhibitor continues its Asian expansion.

TORONTO – Imax is finally bringing its commercial theaters to Pakistan after inking deal with Cine Star Cinema Pakistan for three venues in Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi, to open from 2013.

Imax, which already has theaters in neighboring India, indicated the Pakistani digital screens will show digitally-remastered versions of Hollywood movies.

Consultants Harrods Group helped Imax partner up with Lahore-based Cine Star and structure the agreement.

The Cine Star deal brings to 303 the total number of Imax theaters that are open or contracted to open in the Asia Pacific region.
