India expo to focus on digital cinema


NEW DELHI -- The 7th annual Cinema India Expo will be held June 7-9 in Mumbai and focus on the latest technologies and trends in the cinema business, with a special emphasis on digital cinema, organizers Infocast System said Friday.

Israeli firm XpanD will give a presentation on the latest trends in 3D Digital Cinema, while Mumbai-based theatrical chain Adlabs Films will organize a digital screening of new Hindi movie "Shootout at Lokhandwala" on the Barco 2K projection system.

Panel discussions reviewing the state of cinema exhibition and the progress of digital cinema in India will feature such speakers as Barco Digital Cinema business development manager Stephane Deckers, E-City Digital Cinema vp Chandresh Daftary, Texas Instruments India business development manager Ganesh S. and trade publication Cinema Systems editor Anil Chopra.

Infocast Systems publishes various trade publications related to cinema and sound technology. A parallel event on pro audio and lighting technologies, Palm India Expo -- also in its seventh year -- will run alongside Cinema India Expo, which will be held at the Bombay Exhibition Center in Mumbai's Goregaon suburb.
