India's TV18 undergoes name change


NEW DELHI -- TV18 Group, a joint-venture partner of Mumbai-based media conglomerate Viacom18, has renamed itself Network18, the company said Monday.

In addition to the new name, the group also will adopt the new marketing slogan "Enable, Enlighten, Entertain," which will be used across its various entities which straddle filmed entertainment, news, music television, mobile content, home shopping, ticketing and a host of other activities.

Along with the Viacom joint venture, Network18 has partnerships with international broadcasters including NBC and Time Warner for such channels as CNBC-TV18 and CNN-IBN.

The group also launched an independent film banner, the Indian Film Co., which recently listed on London's Alternative Investment Market to raise $109 million (HR 6/07).

"The new Network18 identity unites our over 3,000-strong team and operations with a common set of values and aligns them behind a common purpose," Network18 Group CEO Haresh Chawla said.
