Rachel Zoe presented her Holiday Collection at a VIP gathering of some of her closest friends at the newly opened Palisades Village.

The newly opened luxury shopping destination Palisades Village is less an upscale mall and more "like a college campus."

So says Rachel Zoe, who is two months in on a new journey with her first brick-and-mortar store. If the Palisades destination truly is like a campus, it would belong to an elite Ivy League destination where every student looks chic and there's somebody famous milling about on every dorm floor. That's what it feels like to hang out at Palisades Village, and that's what it felt like Wednesday night when Zoe presented her first event there since joining the retail ranks.

To unveil the Rachel Zoe Holiday Collection — a glittery gathering of leopard suits, sequin evening gowns and cocktail dresses — the 47-year-old mogul leaned on best friends like Sara and Erin Foster and her retail neighbor Jennifer Meyer, all of whom were dressed in head-to-toe Rachel Zoe. Guests sipped on Perrier-Jouët champagne and cocktails by Avion tequila and Absolut Elyx while listening to beats by MADD before the music was cut close to 8 p.m. so Zoe could say a few words about the new collection to a crowd (dressed in Rachel Zoe Collection) that included Erinn Hudson, Jaime King, Joey Maalouf, Katharine McPhee, Kathy Hilton, Kelly Sawyer, Kyle Richards, Molly Sims, Paris Hilton, Rebecca Dane, Sarah Wright Olsen and Soleil Moon Frye.

"Every holiday season, I try to out-do and out-do [myself] because we do so well at holiday," she told The Hollywood Reporter earlier in the night. "People associate the brand with glamour and dressing up, and obviously [the holidays] are my favorite time of year and my favorite thing to do. Designing for dress up and sparkle and animal print and sequin is my favorite thing."

As it turns out, having a store is turning out to be one of her favorite things, too, because of that aforementioned campus vibe. "Rick Caruso is incredible," Zoe added of the Palisades Village development guru. "And Jen is right there. When I want to borrow diamonds, I go up the street and if Jen needs a dress, she comes here."

Just then, she paused to acknowledge one of her hosts, Sara Foster, who had just walked in to greet the crew wearing a slinky satin Rachel Zoe creation. "Oh. My. God. Sara, you look insanely f------ gorgeous," said Zoe, who launched her line, which is available online and in more 200 stores across the globe, in 2011. "Excuse my language, but wow."

Meyer agreed with that, and also agreed that the neighborhood vibe is what makes their new businesses so special. "Rachel is not only one of my best friends but she’s really just the greatest woman I know. She’s an amazing mom, an amazing businesswoman, an amazing designer and this collection is beyond. Whenever Rachel wants me to be involved in anything, it’s a great moment so here I am."

For his part, Caruso noted the high number of female business owners at the Village and what that has done for business. "The energy that’s created with these 20 women business owners is phenomenal. It's added so much to this property," Caruso said. "Everything is rolling out as I had hoped."
