'Internado' burning up Spanish ratings

MADRID -- For the first time in two seasons, a homegrown fiction series seems to have found a loyal following with Spanish audiences. Private television channel Antena 3's "El Internado" (Boarding School) took May's top five program spots in the rankings, grabbing an average 25.6% of the audience.

At a time when the "CSI" franchise regularly snag the top spots, and with "House" and "Grey's Anatomy" also standing strong, the Antena 3 series' average of more than 4.5 million viewers is noteworthy.

A drama/horror series, "Boarding School" focuses on students at a fictional boarding school in a forest where strange things happen.

The success seems to transcend the TV screen, with some half a million Internet downloads of the series and more than 1,000 mobile phone downloads in the past four days.
