ION Television Acquires 'The Listener'

The Canadian drama about a telepathic paramedic is headed to the U.S. cable channel after a short-lived NBC run in 2009.

TORONTO -- Shaftesbury Films’ The Listener is headed back to U.S. primetime, this time with ION Television.

The deal, unveiled at MIPCOM 2011, follows the Canadian drama about a telepathic paramedic enjoying a short-lived run on NBC in 2009.

ION Television has now acquired the first two seasons of The Listener for broadcast in 2012, with an option for future seasons.

The Craig Olejnik-starring drama, which airs in Canada on CTV and Bravo!, and internationally via Fox International Channels, is now in its third season of production.

The ION Television deal was secured by Shine International, which shops The Listener internationally.
