The Erica Durance-starring medical drama also is returning to CTV in Canada for another 18 episodes.

ION Television and Canada's CTV have picked up a fifth season of Erica Durance-starring medical drama Saving Hope.

The series from Ilana Frank's ICF Films and Entertainment One received orders for another 18 episodes from ION, a representative for eOne confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.

Production on the fifth season will start in Toronto in spring, with Durance returning as Dr. Alex Reid and co-star Michael Shanks as Dr. Charlie Harris.

The latest episode order comes as the fourth season is set to return to CTV on Thursdays nights at 10 p.m. ET/PT, starting Jan. 7. The show briefly aired on NBC in 2012 before finding a new U.S. home on ION.

Saving Hope is set at Hope Zion Hospital after its chief of surgery (Shanks) falls into a coma, putting his fiancee and fellow surgeon in a state of shock. Daniel Gillies, Huse Madhavji, Julia Taylor Ross and Kristopher Turner co-star.

The series is executive produced by Frank and John Morayniss and co-executive produced by Linda Pope, Trish Williams, Noelle Carbone, and Patrick Tarr.

Adam Pettle is executive producer and showrunner on the fifth season. eOne handles worldwide distribution of Saving Hope.
