This Is Why Kim Kardashian Doesn't Smile for Paparazzi Anymore
Blame the body-shamers.
If you've been following Kim Kardashian for a while (in other words, if you've ever been on the Internet), you may have noticed that the expectant mom has adopted hubby Kanye West's no-smiling policy when it comes to having her photo taken by the paparazzi. But her reasoning, unlike Yeezy's, has nothing to do with looking "cool."
In a new interview for C Magazine's fall fashion issue, Kardashian revealed that it was the intense scrutiny of the media during her first pregnancy with daughter North West, especially concerning her weight gain and swelling caused by preeclampsia, that caused her change of heart.
"Before, I was always smiling and so into being out and about," she said of life pre-North. "After I had the baby, I was like, these are the same people that made fun of me and posted the stories that were so awful, calling me fat for something I couldn’t control. I don’t want to smile for them. I don’t want to be out."
Fortunately, however, Kardashian has a much more routine approach to her pregnancy look this time around. "I’m definitely more simple," she said. "I figured out a formula of what works." So far, her style appears still to be very Kardashian-esque, meaning sheer and skintight — or just straight-up nude. Whatever floats your boat, Kim.
