'Island' life for Gorham

Midseason casting answers 'Betty' cliffhanger

Christopher Gorham has been tapped to star on CBS' midseason drama "Harper's Island."

With his new gig on "Island," Gorham won't return to ABC's "Ugly Betty."

The CBS Paramount- produced "Island" is a serialized horror story about a group of friends who meet on an island off the Seattle coast for a destination wedding.

Gorham will play Henry, the groom-to-be.

That also was the name of his character on ABC's "Betty." On that show, the rivalry between Henry and Gio (Freddy Rodriguez) for Betty's (America Ferrera) heart culminated in the Season 2 finale where the final scene showed Betty seemingly making her choice, but the lucky guy was not revealed.

Rodriguez, who was a recurring last season and has features lined up, is not expected to come back for more than one episode.

That means a new love life for Betty. She is not expected to stay on the sidelines for long; Val Emmich was just cast as Jesse, a recurring character and new love interest for Betty.

Gorham, repped by CAA and Rigberg Entertainment Group, first appeared on "Betty" as a guest star in fall 2006. He was quickly recruited as a recurring and later upped to regular. (partialdiff)
