Island/Mercury taps Stephen Ferrera

Former RCA Music Group senior vp takes up A&R post

NEW YORK -- Stephen Ferrera has been appointed executive vp A&R at Island and Mercury Records. Ferrera reports to David Massey, president of Mercury Records, and is based in New York.

Ferrera moves to Island and Mercury from RCA Music Group where he was senior vp A&R/staff producer for the past eight years. He was instrumental in projects by Leona Lewis, Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood, among many others. Before joining RCA, Ferrera was head of A&R/staff producer for Jazz & classics at Capitol Records.

He began his executive career in 1994, as head of A&R/producer at the Chrysalis Group's U.K. record company the Echo Label.
