Italians sign petition against TV violence

ROME -- Italian television viewers' association AIART on Monday said that it has collected more than 130,000 signatures from viewers concerned with the level of violence on Italian television calling for greater state control of the medium as part of the reform process for the sector.

The petition, which does not require a response from the government, will be presented to Italian President Giorgio Napolitano, whose office said that the petition will "be considered carefully."
