iThentic, ITS team for shorts

TORONTO -- Canadian online producer iThentic is partnering with San Fransisco-based Independent Television Service to produce eight short films for online and mobile consumption, the company said Tuesday.

Unveiling a $500,000 production slate, Toronto-based iThentic said the pact with ITS will see eight films produced under the "Global Mobile" banner with food as their common theme.

The film series will launch in October for distribution on, and and to iThentic's distribution partners, including Cellfish in the U.S. and Rogers Vision in Canada.

Toronto-based iThentic, which has an office in New York, also is producing mobile content with themes as varied as the environment, fashion and comedy.

The latest news from iThentic follows Toronto-based producer Barna-Alper Prods. giving the online producer an unspecified cash injection as part of a joint venture project.

"Our production slate reflects a commitment to original storytelling designed for the third screen," iThentic CEO Catherine Tait said.
