"Our Queen" was filmed during last year's Diamond Jubilee and features commentary from the Royal Family and the monarch's staff.

LONDON - British TV network operator ITV said Tuesday that it will later this year air Our Queen, a two-hour documentary about Elizabeth II. It was filmed last year when Britain celebrated the monarch's Diamond Jubilee and the Summer Olympics in London.
Public broadcaster BBC drew the biggest ratings last summer with its jubilee coverage, but the documentary will give ITV another chance to tap into British viewers' interest in the events and their queen.

ITV said the film's producers had "unique access during the Diamond Jubilee year to members of the Royal Family, to Her Majesty's staff -- some talking for the first time -- to her Prime Ministers and to her residences."
Filmed throughout 2012, the program follows the Jubilee from the inside and explores the modern monarchy, "delivering an insight into the way the world’s most famous woman leads the world’s best-known royal house," ITV said.

It didn't immediately detail a broadcast date or time.

comes from Oxford Film and Television under the leadership of producer-director Michael Waldman and royal writer Robert Hardman.

"This is a landmark documentary covering an exceptional year in the life of the Queen, and we are delighted to be able to broadcast it on ITV later this year," said Jo Clinton-Davis, controller of popular factual at ITV.
Said Nicolas Kent, creative director, Oxford Film and Television, and executive producer for Our Queen: "When we set out to make a film about the special relationship between the Queen and the British people, we didn't anticipate that the combination of the Jubilee and the Olympics would make this such a momentous year for the monarchy and the country.”
