ITV Studios sells 'Prisoner' abroad

100 territories sold including Germany's ZDF, Australia's ABC

LONDON -- ITV Studios has sold AMC's remake of cult British 1960s sci-fi thriller "The Prisoner" to over 100 territories including ZDF in Germany and ABC in Australia, and will be pushing for more deals at MIPTV, director of global TV distribution Tobi de Graaff said Thursday.

The show, which was executive produced for ITV Studios by Michele Buck and Damien Timmer, the executive team behind ITV Studios MIPTV 2010 showpiece drama "Bouquet of Barbed Wire," has sold to territories including CCTV's Feng Yun Ju Chang (China), CYBC (Cyprus), HBO (Poland), M-Net (pan-Africa), Sony's AXN Mystery (Japan), True Visions (Thailand), TVNZ (New Zealand), Universal (Greece), VRT (Belgium) and ZDF (Germany).

The remake stars Ian McKellen, Jim Caviezel and Ruth Wilson and follows "Six" the character who finds himself trapped in a dehumanizing and surreal village from which there is, apparently, no escape.

The six-episode series began airing on TMC March 26 and recently premiered on Canal + in France, and will roll out on ITV later this spring.
