Swift debuted the song on ‘The Tonight Show’ in November.

New York-based rock band Bleachers stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to perform “Alfie’s Song (Not So Typical Love Song)” — the upbeat (not so typical) coming-of-age love tune, co-written by Harry Styles, from the upcoming movie Love, Simon.

Frontman Jack Antonoff then sat down to chat with Fallon about working with Styles on the song, but the late-night host first brought up his work with Taylor Swift on her soft piano ballad, “New Year’s Day," which she performed on the show in November.

Though Antonoff and Swift are frequent collaborators, the singer-songwriter revealed that the Reputation track was somewhat of a happy accident.

“We wrote that song in a second,” Antonoff said. “We didn’t plan to write it, I think if you plan to write a ballad, you always get less than you hope for.” Swift played "New Year's Day" for the first time live on Fallon's show last November.

Fallon then asks the music producer if he ever gets embarrassed to share ideas with Swift, who said that he prefers not to work with a lot of people. “When I first started writing, I always wrote my own songs, which was a lonely process,” Antonoff explained. I only work with one other person, so you can say something and not feel embarrassed.”

The singer then talks about his hometown of New Jersey, and the story about how he ruined his parents' minivan while on his first tour.
