The site's creator will come back to lead the company after being pushed out in 2008.

Twitter founder Jack Dorsey will return to the social networking site to lead it's production team he announced via tweet today.

Dorsey, who was the company's first CEO in 2007 but was ousted a year later, will become Executive Chairman. He will also continue to be CEO of Square, the mobile payments company he also founded.

"Today I'm thrilled to get back to work at @Twitter leading product as Executive Chairman. And yes: leading @Squareforevermore as CEO. #200%," he tweeted.

Before landing Dorsey, reports cited Google's Sundar Pichai and Neal Mohan as possible candidates for the post, which Jason Goldman held before leaving the company last December. Current Twitter CEO Dick Costolo will remain with the company
