Jack Linkletter, son of Art Linkletter, dies at 70

CLOVERDALE, Calif.-- Jack Linkletter, son of famed broadcaster Art Linkletter and a popular television host in his own right, has died. He was 70.

He died Tuesday of lymphoma at his home in Cloverdale, said Bill Kerfoot, a business associate at Linkletter Enterprises, a family run real estate development.

Jack Linkletter had followed his more famous father into broadcasting, hosting such TV shows as "Hootenanny" and special events as the Miss Universe pageant.

He also hosted the TV shows "Here's Hollywood" and "America Alive!" Besides the Miss Universe pageant, he also hosted World's Fair events and major parades.

Jack Linkletter was born in San Francisco, the oldest of Art and Lois Linkletter's five children.

A private memorial service is planned.
