Chan's latest action flick will bow on Nov. 20 in the date vacated by the James Bond film 'No Time to Die.'

Gravitas Ventures has picked up the North American rights to Jackie Chan's latest action film, Vanguard.

A wide theatrical release of Vanguard in the U.S. and Canada, including drive-ins and Imax theaters, is planned for Nov. 20, a dated vacated by the latest James Bond film, No Time to Die, after MGM pushed that tentpole to 2021.

The North American film acquisition deal signals indie distributors are looking to Chinese blockbusters and other foreign fare to fill a North American market void as the major studios continue to push tentpoles to next year or give them streaming releases.

Vanguard, the ninth collaboration between director Stanley Tong and Chan, also stars Yang Yang, Ai Lun, Mu Qimiya, Xu Ruohan and Zhu Zhengting.

Vanguard is a film that fills a fall action-adventure vacancy, with the legendary screen icon Jackie Chan at the forefront. I can’t wait for North American audiences to see this film,” Cameron Moore, Gravitas Ventures senior manager of theatrical distribution said in a statement.

Gravitas Ventures vp acquisitions Tony Piantedosi negotiated the deal with Shanghai Lix Entertainment.
