Jake Gyllenhaal and Carey Mulligan are set to star in Wildlife, the directorial debut from actor Paul Dano.
Production is set to begin November and will shoot in Montana and Oklahoma.
Dano wrote the script with Zoe Kazan adapting a 1990 novel by Richard Ford. It centers on a teenage boy who witnesses the decay of his parents’ marriage after their move to Montana.
Producing are Andrew Duncan and Alex Saks of June Pictures, and Gyllenhaal and Riva Marker via their Nine Stories. Oren Moverman, Ann Ruark, and Dano will also produce. Kazan and Eddie Vaisman are executive producing.
WME Global is handling the domestic rights to the film.
June Pictures is the fledgling indie banner that is already in post on several projects. Among them: The Florida Project written and directed by Tangerine filmmaker Sean Baker, and Fun Mom Diner, which stars Toni Collette and Molly Shannon.
Gyllenhaal next stars in Tom Ford’s Nocturnal Animals while Mulligan’s last big-screen appearance was in the 2015 drama Suffragette.
