Naomi Watts Jake Gyllenhaal Split - H 2014

Fox Searchlight will handle the film in the U.S. and several European markets

Wild director Jean-Marc Vallee's Demolition, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Naomi Watts, has sold out around the world.

That includes finalizing a multiterritory deal with Fox Searchlight to release the film in the U.S., the U.K., France and Germany, as well as Australia. Sierra/Affinity handled the film in all remaining markets. THR first reported Searchlight's involvement last month just as the movie wrapped production.

Based on a Black List script by Bryan Sipe, Demolition centers on an investment banker (Gyllenhaal) who finds himself in emotional turmoil after the death of his wife. He begins to rip apart his life to investigate where he went wrong, but then meets a single mom (Watts) who rescues him from his darkness. Chris Cooper also stars in the film, which will hit theaters next year.

CAA brokered the Searchlight pact, while Sierra/Affinity has closed deals in more than 25 foreign territories, including to Sony in Latin America, Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, Iceland and Greece, VVS Films in Canada, Lark in Hong Kong, PVR in India, Good Films in Italy, Phantom in japan, Main Title in South Korea, Filmware in Taiwan and Fabula in Turkey.

Mr. Mudd was the original producer on Demolition, with CAA helping to bring aboard Black Label Media and Sidney Kimmel to finance.

Demolition producers are Molly Smith, Trent Luckinbill, Lianne Halfon, Russell Smith and Sidney Kimmel. Executive producers include Thad Luckinbill, John Malkovich, Nathan Ross, Jason Reitman, Helen Estabrook and Carla Hacken.
