James DuBose eyes scripted series

Acquires rights to 'Black Mafia Family' story

Urban unscripted series producer James DuBose ("Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is") is venturing into scripted TV and features.

DuBose had tapped BET's senior vp original program development Robyn Lattaker-Johnson as president of his DuBose Entertainment to oversee the company's expansion.

In its first scripted effort, DuBose has acquired all media rights to the story of the "Black Mafia Family" of BMF -- brothers Demetrious "Big Meech" Flenory and Terry Flenory, who were recently sentenced to 30 years in prison for operating a multi-state criminal enterprise involving high-volume cocaine distribution.

"This is a complex crime story that weaves elements of humanity, a strong family bond, street-level survival and opulence with real consequences," said, who plans to develop a scripted series, a feature film and a book.
