Daran Norris will star as the late 'SNL' alum.

Jason Priestley is set to direct a film about the life of comedian Phil Hartman, entitled Nice Guy Phil.

Daran Norris, whose credits include Veronica Mars and the Disney animated film Bolt, will star in the biopic.

Hartman appeared on eight seasons of NBC's Saturday Night Live, where he was known for his many impressions, which included renderings of Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan and Frank Sinatra. Hartman also co-starred on the NBC sitcom NewsRadio and lent his voice to The Simpsons. He died in 1998.

Priestley is best known for playing Brandon Walsh on the original run of Beverly Hills, 90210, and recently made his feature directorial debut with Cas and Dylan.

Through his Carousel Pictures banner, Tyler Levine will produce Nice Guy Phil, which was penned by Jonas Chernick.
