Jay Baruchel has nabbed a starring role in the Canadian streaming comedy Letterkenny.

The This is the End star is to play a tiki torch-wielding rabble rouser from out of town, Hard Right Jay, in the CraveTV sitcom about Wayne, played by Jared Keeso, and his hick small-town friends and rivals. The casting marks a return to series television for Baruchel, after FXX cancelled Man Seeking Woman, the Simon Rich-created series starring Baruchel, after three seasons that shot in Toronto. The star's movie roles include Knocked Up, Tropic Thunder and the How to Train Your Dragon series.

Alias Grace star Sarah Gadon is also returning for the third season, joining an expanded cast that includes Degrassi: The Next Generation star Alex Harrouch, Magalie Lépine Blondeau, Pierre Yves Cardinal, Killjoys star Kelly McCormack and Jess Salguero.

Other returning Letterkenny cast include Nathan Dales, Michelle Mylett, K Trevor Wilson and Dylan Playfair. The series is shot on location in and around Sudbury, Ontario and recently landed a new 40-episode order to help launch the Canadian comedy into international markets.

Baruchel, whose U.S. acting breakthrough came on Judd Apatow's Freaks and Geeks follow-up Undeclared, recently made his directorial debut with the hockey comedy sequel Goon: Last of the Enforcers.

Letterkenny is produced by New Metric Media, in partnership with DHX Media and Playfun Games. Keeso, Jacob Tierney, Mark Montefiore and Patrick O’Sullivan share the executive producer credits on the series.

Baruchel is repped by CAA, Thruline and Lichter Grossman.
