Jay-Z nabs 10 BET Hip-Hop Awards noms

Drake, Nicki Minaj also get multiple nods for Oct. 12 event

NEW YORK -- The fifth annual BET Hip-Hop Awards is premiering on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 8 p.m. on BET Networks and Jay-Z, Drake, Rick Ross and Nicki Minaj lead the nominations.

Released Aug. 9 on BET.com and announced on BET's "106 & Park" countdown show, the list of nominees reveals that Jay-Z leads with 10 nods and breaks the BET Hip-Hop Awards record for highest number of nominations in the five-year history of the award show. Drake follows with eight nominations and Rick Ross and Nicki Minaj with seven nods each.

In the Best Live Performer category are Busta Rhymes, Drake, Jay-Z, Kanye West and Lil Wayne; Lyricist of the Year nominees are Drake, Eminem, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj; and B.o.B feat. Bruno Mars ("Nothin' On You"), Drake ("Find Your Love"), Jay-Z, Rihanna and Kanye West ("Run This Town"), Jay-Z and Alicia Keys ("Empire State of Mind") and Jay-Z and Swizz Beatz ("On To The Next One") are up for Best Hip-Hop Video.

Other categories include Hustler of the Year (T.I., Diddy, Drake, Jay-Z, Nicki MInaj), Rookie of the Year (Chiddy Bang, J. Cole, Nicki Minaj, Roscoe Dash, Waka Flocka Flame) and Producer of the Year (Swizz Beatz, Boi-1da, Drumma Boy, Lex Luger, Polow Da Don).

Hosting the show this year, which is taking place on Saturday, Oct. 2 at Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center in Atlanta and premiering on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 8 p.m., is comedian/actor Mike Epps.
