Jayma Mays cast in 'Glee'

Fox pilot on track for March launch

"Ugly Betty's" Jayma Mays has been cast in "Glee," Ryan Murphy's pilot for Fox, which has been put on the fast track for a March launch as a potential companion piece for "American Idol."

The hourlong comedy "Glee," from 20th TV, centers on Will (Matthew Morrison), a thirtysomething Spanish teacher at an Ohio high school who has the daunting task of taking over the school's glee club, which has become a heaven for outcasts.

Mays will play Emma, the school's guidance counselor and potential love interest for Will.

Mays most recently recurred on ABC's "Ugly Betty" as Henry's (Christopher Gorham) not-so-nice pregnant fiancee.

Gorham also recently booked a new series gig on CBS' midseason drama "Harper's Island."

Mays is repped by Gersh and Framework.
