Jeff Shell will be honored at the annual Stars Gala.

The Universal Filmed Entertainment Group chairman is being recognized by the Fulfillment Fund, a nonprofit dedicated to helping Los Angeles students attain a college education, with the Tom Sherak Award.

The award is named after the former President of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, who also served on the Fulfillment Fund's board of directors for 20 years.

Past recipients of the award include Mark Gordon, Ryan Kavanaugh, Rob Moore and Jim Gianopulos.

"As a Los Angeles native and product of public education, Jeff is deeply invested in the city where he grew up. He has been working to improve educational opportunities for Los Angeles students for decades, and we are grateful for his and Universal's long-standing friendship and philanthropic leadership," says Fulfillment Fund CEO Kenny Rogers.

The gala will take place at Universal Studios Hollywood Globe Theater, with attendees getting the opportunity to explore "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter."

The Stars 2016 Benefit Gala will take place on Nov. 2.
