Jeffrey Okun Re-Elected Chair of Visual Effects Society Board

The VFX supervisor, whose credits include "The Last Samurai," will serve a third, one-year term.

Visual effects supervisor Jeffrey Okun was re-elected to a third, one-year term as chair of the Visual Effects Society board of directors, the organization announced Monday.

Okun has contributed effects and second-unit direction to films including The Last Samurai, Blood Diamond and The Day the Earth Stood Still.

Richard Winn Taylor II, creative director of yU+Co, was named first vice chair, and Pam Hogarth, director of marketing for Look Effects, was elected second vice chair. Bob Coleman, president of Digital Artists Agency, will serve as treasurer, and VFX producer Kim Lavery was elected secretary.

The VES Awards will be held Tuesday at the Beverly Hilton. Chris Nolan will receive the inaugural VES Visionary Award and Ray Harryhausen the lifetime achievement award.
