Jelline new head of ICM TV talent department
Leigh Brillstein steps down, continues at ICMMike Jelline, a rising star agent at ICM, has been named head of the agency's TV talent department.
The 33-year-old succeeds veteran ICM agent Leigh Brillstein, who has stepped down as chief of the department while extending her deal as senior vp at the agency.
ICM president Chris Silbermann said the leadership transition "couldn't have been more easy and natural."
"Leigh has been grooming Mike as her successor for years," he said. "Mike was already doing a lot of the department running; he is a natural leader."
In his new capacity, Jelline will report to Ted Chervin, ICM's head of worldwide television. Additionally, he will report to Toni Howard, executive vp and head of motion picture talent, "in recognition of the fact that there is so much fluidity between the worlds of film and television in today's marketplace," Silbermann said.
Since joining ICM in 1997 as an assistant under Nancy Josephson and Risa Shapiro, Jelline has built a solid client roster of actors on established and buzz-worthy new shows across all broadcast and major cable networks. The list includes Ali Larter ("Heroes"), Olivia Williams (upcoming "Dollhouse"), Jason O'Mara (upcoming "Life on Mars"), Peter MacNicol ("Numbers"), Oliver Hudson ("Rules of Engagement"), January Jones ("Mad Men"), Seth Gabel and Samaire Armstrong ("Dirty Sexy Money"), James Badge Dale (HBO's miniseries "The Pacific") and comedian Katt Williams.
Jelline also has placed 13 clients on pilots this season, including Megan Dodds on Fox's "Courtroom K," Paula Malcomson on Sci Fi Channel's "Caprica" and Lucy Punch on HBO's "1%."
Brillstein, who joined ICM in 1988, did two separate stints leading the TV talent department, most recently since 2002.
As part of her deal, she opted to take managerial responsibilities off her plate to focus on her clients, who include Sam Waterston, Noah Wyle, Sarah Paulson, Stockard Channing, John Laroquette, Rikki Lake, Annabeth Gish, Alex O'Loughlin and Adrian Pasdar.
With the appointment of Jelline, ICM has thirtysomethings running the TV lit and talent departments under Chervin. Chris von Goetz and Kevin Crotty were named co-heads the TV lit division last year.
