Her predecessor, Sam Singal, left the role this summer.

Jenn Suozzo, who has served as interim executive producer of the Nightly News With Lester Holt since Sam Singal left the role this summer, will be given the position permanently.

"Jenn has done a tremendous job at the helm of the broadcast over the last few months leading the Nightly team," NBC News president Noah Oppenheim said in a staff memo on Thursday. "Her passion for news and her editorial vision are evident in everything she does, and she's forged a formidable partnership with Lester, dating back to their time together at MSNBC."

Singal had helmed the show since 2015.

Suozzo joined NBC News back in 1999 and came aboard the nightly news show in 2012. She is the founding producer of Andrea Mitchell Reports on MSNBC.

"I can't think of anyone better suited than Jenn to lead this extraordinary team as we build on our great momentum," Oppenheim said in the memo.

For the month of September, Nightly News led the three evening news broadcasts in the key demo but trailed ABC World News Tonight in total viewers.
