The 'Between' actress has signed a development deal with the company.

Actress Jennette McCurdy has signed a development deal with digital studio Canvas Media that will see the star of Netflix's Between working on projects that could live on multiple platforms.

The deal brings McCurdy, known for her starring roles on Nickelodeon's iCarly and Sam & Cat, together with Canvas Media Studios, a digital production company founded by Bernie Su and David Tochterman that is focused on multi-platform storytelling. McCurdy noted in a statement the company's expertise in using social media to expand its storytelling.

"Working with Bernie and David will enable me to connect more creatively with my fans," she said. "They understand better than anyone how to tell stories that take advantage of social platforms, which is why I'm thrilled to be working with Canvas Media Studios."

Su is the creator of The Lizzie Bennett Diaries, a transmedia web series that streamed from 2012 to 2013. At Canvas, he and Tochterman have worked with StyleHaul on drama Vanity, among other series in development. The deal with McCurdy will further expand their slate of projects. "We are looking forward to working with Jennette, who has developed a devoted social following and is now looking for opportunities to engage with her fans in different ways," said Tochterman, with Su adding, "She is a very funny, talented artist with the right voice to connect with the Gen Z audience, which is why we are excited to be collaborating with her to develop new projects."

McCurdy is repped by UTA and Management 360.
