Jennifer Aniston Urges People to Wear Masks Amid Coronavirus Spikes

The actress donned a face covering of her own in the Instagram post, which received comments in support from Reese Witherspoon, Jameela Jamil, Rita Wilson and Josh Gad.

Jennifer Aniston has a message for all of her friends, family and fans who "care about human life": Wear a mask.

The actress, 50, shared a photo of herself donning her facial covering on Instagram with a caption not only saying it's essential but noting it's the least people can do.

"So many lives have been taken by this virus because we aren't doing enough," she wrote in her Instagram caption. "I really do believe in the basic goodness of people so I know we can all do this but still, there are many people in our country refusing to take the necessary steps to flatten the curve, and keep each other safe."

The caption goes on to talk about individuals who have refused to wear face coverings because they "seem worried about their 'rights being taken away.'"

Her post comes as the U.S. starts to see an increase in the number of new novel coronavirus cases, especially in states like Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida and Texas. Nevada, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon and South Carolina are also seeing more new cases.

She continues writing about the how the required face covering has been politicized and added her own views on the topic.

"This simple and effective recommendation is being politicized at the expense of peoples' lives. And it really shouldn't be a debate," she wrote.

Aniston, whose Instagram debut nearly broke the social media app back in October, received supportive comments from a number of stars including Reese Witherspoon, Julia Roberts, Drew Barrymore, Gwyneth Paltrow, Rita Wilson and Olivia Wilde. Additional stars commenting on the actress' post include Jameela Jamil, Kevin Bacon, Amy Sedaris, Julianne Hough and Josh Gad. Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling have posted mask-sporting photos of their own and urged others to don similar coverings.

The actress' post concluded with a plea to followers to wear masks and encourage those around them to take heed as well.

"If you care about human life, please...just #wearadamnmask and encourage those around you to do the same," she said.

I understand masks are inconvenient and uncomfortable. But don’t you feel that it’s worse that businesses are shutting down... jobs are being lost... health care workers are hitting absolute exhaustion. And so many lives have been taken by this virus because we aren’t doing enough. ⠀ ⠀ I really do believe in the basic goodness of people so I know we can all do this BUT still, there are many people in our country refusing to take the necessary steps to flatten the curve, and keep each other safe. People seem worried about their “rights being taken away” by being asked to wear a mask. This simple and effective recommendation is being politicized at the expense of peoples’ lives. And it really shouldn’t be a debate ⠀ ⠀ If you care about human life, please... just #wearadamnmask and encourage those around you to do the same
