Renee Zellweger, Betty White, Ellen Page and Kim Novak join the 'Hunger Games' star

Jennifer Lawrence may not like social media and claims she will never join Twitter, but that doesn’t stop her from being Google’s top trending actress in 2014. Below are the most buzzed about actresses this past year, according to the search giant.

1. Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence’s year as America’s sweetheart had only just begun in January when she won a Golden Globe for best supporting actress in American Hustle. She starred in the franchises X-Men: Days of Future Past, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1, in which she made her singing debut. She also partnered with Bradley Cooper in Serena, where they play newlyweds building a timber empire. When Lawrence fell victim to the iCloud hack that leaked her nude photos, she didn't apologize but took the moment to speak on the issue, telling Vanity Fair, "It's not a scandal. It's a sex crime." In the end, she succeeded financially in topping Forbes’ 2014 list of highest grossing actors. Lawrence has already finished filming part two of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay and is teaming up again with director David O'Russell for Joy.

2. Renee Zellweger

The Internet wasn't talking about Renee Zellweger's A-list acting this year but rather her looks when she made a red carpet appearance post-plastic surgery. Many commented that her face was barely recognizable when she appeared at Elle’s annual Women in Hollywood dinner in October. Reese Witherspoon recently addressed the comments as “cruel, rude and disrespectful” during THR’s actress roundtable, but Zellweger embraced her changes, telling People, "I'm glad folks think I look different! I'm living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I'm thrilled that perhaps it shows." Zellweger can bring the focus back to her career in 2015, as she is set to star with Keanu Reeves in The Whole Truth and Greg Kinnear in Same Kind of Different as Me.

3. Betty White

At 92, Golden Girl Betty White shows no signs of slowing down with Betty White’s Off Their Rockers and the TV Land sitcom Hot in Cleveland. Cleveland hit 100 episodes this past August, making it the network's highest-rated show.

4. Ellen Page

Ellen Page made a personal reveal on Valentine's Day when she came out as lesbian during her speech at Human Rights Campaign's Time to Thrive conference in Las Vegas. Later, she emerged with a fresh new role, co-starring with Lawrence as Kitty Pride in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

5. Kim Novak

The 81-year-old actress, best known for her role in Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo, set off a social media storm after she presented with Matthew McConaughey at the 2014 Oscars. The Internet was full of negative comments about Novak's appearance, and even Donald Trump joined in on the post-Oscar ridicule, stating that Novak should "sue her plastic surgeon." Novak fired back at critics on her Facebook page to admit that she had fat injections for a 2012 TCM interview, and spoke out about the unhealthiness of cyber bullying.
