Jeremy Sisto played the role of Jack Dawson in Kate Winslet's screen test for the part of Rose.

Clueless star Jeremy Sisto almost became the Jack to Kate Winslet's Rose and was "heartbroken" when he didn't get the part.

In an interview with The Huffington Post, the actor discussed his audition for the character of Jack Dawson opposite Winslet in her screen test for Titanic — James Cameron's 1997 classic that scored a record-setting total of 11 Oscar wins. (Sisto also read alongside three other hopeful actresses vying for the part of Rose before he ultimately lost the role to Leonardo DiCaprio.)

"That was one of the many, many jobs I didn't get," he reflected. "It's always fun to see a movie that you know really well and love with this alternate-universe person in there. So while I was a little embarrassed to reveal one of my many failures in life, at the same time I couldn't deprive Titanic lovers of seeing that alternate universe."

He added, "It was a pretty great experience. To be involved in something that had that kind of scope — anything James Cameron does has this huge scope to it. He's trying to push the limits on things. So I was just insanely inspired by it and a little heartbroken when the role didn't come my way."

While Titanic helped launch the careers of its leading stars, Sisto, at the time, settled for supporting roles in films such as Suicide Kings and Bongwater. Since losing the role of Jack to DiCaprio, the actor has shaped a successful career in television, starring in series such as Law & Order and Suburgatory.
