'Jersey Shore' Star Jenni "JWoww" Farley Files for Divorce From Husband Roger Mathews
The reality TV couple's split comes after nearly three years of marriage.
Jersey Shore star Jenni "JWoww" Farley has filed for divorce from Roger Mathews, her husband of nearly three years.
According to the Asbury Park Press, the divorce complaint was filed on Sept. 12 in New Jersey's Ocean County Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences. "The Plaintiff and the Defendant have irreconcilable differences which have caused the breakdown of the marriage for a period of at least six months which make it appear that the marriage should be dissolved and that there is no prospect of reconciliation," Farley's complaint read.
Mathews on Thursday night confirmed the divorce in an Instagram video. "My wife filed for divorce, it’s true. I’m just gonna keep it simple. I don’t blame her. There’s no cheating or any dumb shit, any juicy details," he said. "She just grew tired of the repetitive pattern that we fell into…again, I’m not gonna get into detail but it was a repetitive pattern and not a good one."
Mathews also revealed that he and Farley are currently in counseling and said that he intends to "win" his wife back. "I’m not done fighting, I’m gonna win my wife back. I’m gonna win her affection back, I’m gonna win her love back," the dad of two — who shares daughter Meilani, 4, and son Greyson, 2, with Farley — continued. "I have no intention of being a single dad. We’re in counseling so there is hope. It ain’t over till the fat lady sings."
Mathews appeared on multiple seasons of Jersey Shore and spinoff series, Snooki & JWoww, but he has not appeared on Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. MTV's 2018 reboot is currently airing its second season. While Farley has traveled to film the reality series, Mathews has stayed home in Toms River, N.J., to care for their kids. On last week's episode, Farley decided to leave her castmates behind in Las Vegas and head back two days early to her family in New Jersey.
The pair met while filming Jersey Shore during its original six-season run on MTV. Farley and Mathews later tied the knot off-camera in October 2015. Their split news comes one month after it was revealed on the Jersey Shore revival that Farley and Mathews' son, Greyson, is in therapy for delayed speech.
Days after Farley filed her divorce papers, Mathews took to Instagram to share a lengthy, cryptic message titled "Find Yourself," in which he suggested that he's recently gone through a tough time in his life.
"Takes a lot of vulnerability and being able to accept shortcomings and that you were wrong even if your heart was in the right place," he wrote in part. "I still like me, just need to be a better me cause it ain't just about me. Time. It's the one thing we can't get back. I've squandered some."
Farley has yet to comment.
