There were endless interpretations of the Met Gala’s 2015 theme, “China: Through the Looking Glass,” on Monday night, but none were more subtle than Jessica Chastain’s. Celebrity nail artist Angel Williams created the look for Chastain, who opted for a figure-hugging, floor-length Givenchy gown in gold.

"We wanted it to be glamorous and classy at the same time. We wanted a cross between a blood red and a wine red," says Williams, who landed on Essie’s Berry Naughty ($8.50). "Red is a traditional Chinese color, symbolic for joy," says Williams. Artist Kristofer Buckle carried the same theme through to Chastain’s makeup look, using ColourPop cosmetics’ Lippie Stix in Fighter ($5) to create a lively matte-red lip.
