Jessica Chastain's Stylist Designed an Empowering Shoe Collection
Elizabeth Stewart's collection for Pour La Victoire comes with a message.
She's responsible for outfitting some of the most powerful women in Hollywood, including equal pay champion Jessica Chastain and actual Wonder Woman Gal Gadot, so it makes sense that stylist Elizabeth Stewart would incorporate a message of empowerment into her first shoe collection for PLV (formerly Pour la Victoire).
The Stand Tall Collection, due out in September, features 10 styles, including loafers, platforms and red-carpet-ready pumps ($225-$400), all of which were designed with confidence in mind.
"My ultimate goal as a celebrity stylist is to ensure that when my clients step out onto the red carpet and into some of the most public moments of their lives that they feel confident, strong and empowered by what they’re wearing,” said Stewart of her styling and design philosophy in a release. “Fashion is an incredibly empowering tool for women to protect, enhance, embolden and even convey a message."
As for inspiration for the shoes, which feature bold, statement-making colors in classic shapes, Stewart tells THR it's about simplicity. "I applied my style philosophy to it! Clean and chic with some fun twists."
Perhaps taking a cue from the bevy of pins and text statements being made on the red carpet this awards season, Stewart even stamped the name of the collection, "Stand Tall," onto a pump. "I love the idea of the shoes being a talisman of strength for those who wear them and making a high heel that represents all the positive change that women are banding together to effect," she said.
Especially in a Hollywood environment where clothes can speak as loud as words, it seems only fitting that Stewart's clients would jump at the chance to show off her kicks. But as for concrete plans to dress clients like Gadot, Chastain or Viola Davis in the pumps, Stewart has remained mum. "Stay tuned!"
