#JeSuisAhmed Honors Policeman Murdered in Charlie Hebdo Attack

"I am not Charlie, I am Ahmed the dead cop. Charlie ridiculed my faith and culture and I died defending his right to do so. #JesuisAhmed"

In the wake of the Charlie Hebdo attack, a new hashtag has been created to honor a slain police officer. Ahmed Merabet, 42, was shot and killed at point-blank range outside of the Charlie Hebdo office in Paris.

Merabet was Muslim, and one of the two police officers killed in the terrorist attack that left 12 people dead. The hashtag #JeSuisCharlie (I Am Charlie) went viral on Wednesday, to commemorate the victims. Another hashtag, #JeSuisAhmed, began on Twitter on Wednesday, picking up steam on Thursday.
