Jetix grabs 'Di-Gata' for U.K.

TORONTO -- Canadian broadcaster Corus Entertainment said Friday that it has sold its 2-D cartoon series "Di-Gata Defenders" to Jetix U.K.

As it prepares for MIPTV, Toronto-based Corus also unveiled plans for a toy line launch by Spin Master LTD and Upper Deck for the "Di-Gata Defenders" property, a Canada-Luxembourg co-production between Nelvana Ltd. and LuxAnimation.

The tween action cartoon about four young heroes and their powerful Guardian companions already airs in Canada on Teletoon, with additional sales to RTL2 in Germany, TF1 and Nickelodeon in France, RAISAT in Italy and Cartoon Network in Australia, New Zealand, India, Latin and Central America.

Corus also said that the Game Factory will release a "Di-Gata" handheld game for the Nintendo DS platform this Christmas, ahead of a PlayStation portable game becoming available in early 2008.
