Jim Amos, President of Sony Pictures Domestic Distribution, to Receive Show 'E' Award at ShowEast
The convention runs from Oct. 24-27 in Miami and Hollywood, Fla.
Jim Amos, president, Sony Pictures Domestic Distribution, will receive the 2011 Show "E" Award at the upcoming ShowEast convention, which runs from Oct. 24-27 at the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa in Miami/Hollywood, Fla.
Amos will be honored with the award, presented to “an industry member whose achievements, accomplishments and dedication to the industry are unequalled,” at the Final Night Banquet and Awards Ceremony.
Having begun his career in 1984 as a sales trainee for the Boston branch of Columbia Pictures, Amos moved up the ranks to sales representative and then sales manager in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Detroit and Cleveland. When the company became Tri-Star Pictures, he was promoted district manger of the Western Division and then went on to become district manager for the Eastern Division when the company became Sony Pictures. At Sony, Amos became division manager/senior vp, distribution, Eastern Division before being promoted to his current position as president, domestic distribution. Amos recently celebrated his 27th anniversary with the company.
“Throughout his career, Jim has worked on 57 films that grossed over $100 million, including Men in Black, Ghostbusters, Hitch, Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, As Good As It Gets, Hancock, Karate Kid and the Spider-Man trilogy,” Robert Sunshine, senior managing director of the convention, noted.
