Jimmy Kimmel Asks Pedestrians if Hillary Clinton Should Be Impeached

Both the ABC late-night host and CBS' Stephen Colbert took up the possibility of a special counsel being appointed to investigate the Clinton Foundation.

Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert took time during their Tuesday shows to address the possibility of an investigation into the Clinton Foundation.

"We have to be very careful investigating Hillary Clinton. If you say her name three times, she runs for president automatically," Kimmel joked in his opening monologue.

On Monday, the Justice Department said Attorney General Jeff Sessions is open to the idea of a special counsel investigating the Clinton Foundation dealings. With the president eagerly pressing for a Clinton investigation, Kimmel joked, "At this point, Donald Trump would lock Hillary Clinton up for the murder on the Orient Express right now."

"His supporters are so very passionate about hating Hillary Clinton, it seems sometimes like maybe they forgot she lost. That she's not the president," Kimmel said.

To mock the possible probe, Kimmel decided to have his team ask people on the street whether they believe Clinton should be impeached. "Hillary Clinton doesn't have a job to get impeached from. But did that stop people from demanding she be removed from office?" Kimmel teased before showing the segment.

Various people interviewed outside the Jimmy Kimmel Live! studio urged for a Clinton impeachment despite the former secretary of state not being president.

While some were unable to explain their reasoning as to why an impeachment was necessary, others referenced the former candidate's "numerous lies," "emails that mysteriously just disappeared," "extortion" and, as one man said, "If there was a Benedict Arnold Law, it'd be her."

One man said Congress "hasn’t done anything yet" to remove Clinton from office and believes Congress should "get together and say, 'We the people should take care of the people of the United States, for what she has done is wrong.'"

A woman also said she believes Clinton is worse than climate change, guns and is as dangerous as ISIS. Despite many people urging for an impeachment, one man realized the show was trying to trick him.

Meanwhile over on CBS' Late Show, Colbert also mocked Trump's call for an investigation with a faux-press conference in which the Department of Justice detailed its humorous reasons for a Clinton probe.

"We will only be investigating hard, legitimate issues," the faux Department of Justice spokesman said in the sketch.

"Did the Clintons collude with the Russians? Wouldn't that be a cool twist?" the speaker said. Adding, "Second, is the Clinton foundation operating an orphan-toddler cage-fighting ring out of the back of a Raymour & Flanigan's in Roanoke, Virginia? We will get to the bottom of it."

Continuing to provide comical reasons, the speaker also asked, "Is Hillary really just a Scooby-Doo villain wearing a mask? We won't know for sure, until we pull off her face." He also referenced the Netflix series Stranger Things, suggesting that Clinton could be "doing the bidding of the Stranger Things 2 shadow monster that possesses her."

In a letter to the House Judiciary Committee, it was revealed that Sessions has directed senior federal prosecutors to "evaluate certain issues" regarding the Clinton Foundation. Trump has been vocal about the need for an investigation, tweeting earlier this month, "Everybody is asking why the Justice Department (and FBI) isn't looking into all of the dishonesty going on with Crooked Hillary & the Dems."
