Jimmy Kimmel Slated for L.A. Italia's Festival Honor
The February festival will premiere 'Party Cloudy (With Sunny Spells),' starring John Turturro and Luca Zingaretti.
Jimmy Kimmel will be honored at the 10th edition of the Los Angeles, Italia Film, Fashion, and Art Fest with its award of excellence, celebrating Italian-Americans who have made outstanding contributions in the world of entertainment. The Emmy winner is now in his 12th season of Jimmy Kimmel Live, ABC’s longest-running late-night talk show.
“There is no one more deserving to receive our Excellence Award than Jimmy Kimmel,” said Pascal Vicedomini, director of the fest. “His unique, cutting style brilliantly comments upon the contemporary scene as he skewers both pop culture and breaking news on a nightly basis through his monologues and video montages. He is truly an Italian-American treasure.”
The festival will open with the world premiere of Marco Pontecorvo’s new film Partly Cloudy (With Sunny Spells), starring John Turturro and Luca Zingaretti. The story is set in a sofa manufacturing company and involves two friends who stumble upon an incredible discovery.
Pontecorvo built his career as a top cinematographer in Italy, beginning on the set of Francesco Rosi’s The Truce, and since working on TV series Game of Thrones and Rome, as well as on 2010’s Letters to Juliet. He was also the cinematographer for Turturro’s latest directorial work, Fading Giglio.
The L.A., Italia fest runs Feb.15-21. This year’s edition is dedicated to Frank Sinatra, in celebration of the centennial of his birth.
