Johannes B. Kerner jumps to Sat.1
German TV presenter will take new post at year's endCOLOGNE, Germany -- German commercial network Sat.1 has scored a major coup, snatching Johannes B. Kerner, one of the country's best-known TV presenters, away from public broadcaster ZDF.
Kerner will jump to Sat.1 when his contract with ZDF expires at the end of this year. With his eponymous talk show and as host of the channel's top sporting events, Kerner is the face of ZDF. His on-air commentary during the 2008 European and 2006 World Cup soccer championships helped ZDF to the best ratings in its history, with market shares of over 80% for some games.
In his new job, Kerner will host a weekly live news magazine for Sat.1 as well as provide commentary for the channel's coverage of Champions League soccer matches.
Kerner got his start as a sports reporter on Sat.1 before switching to ZDF in 1997.
