John Cho, Alan Yang Team for Drama 'Tigertail' (Exclusive)

Christine Ko is also starring in the drama as well as veteran actor Tzi Ma.

John Cho will star in Tigertail, a multi-generational drama from Alan Yang, the co-creator of Master of None.

Veteran actor Tzi Ma (Arrival) and Christine Ko (Hawaii Five-O, The Great Indoors) are also starring in the Netflix feature project, which Yang wrote and is directing based on events that happened in his family. Tigertail is set to begin shooting next week in New York and Taiwan.

The pic focuses on two people’s poor life choices and the consequences of those decisions, exploring themes of regret, longing, passion and repression while spanning continents and generations, from 1950s Taiwan to present-day New York City.

Charles King and Kim Roth are producing via their Macro banner. Poppy Hanks and Yang are also producing. Executive producing are Peter Pastorelli (Beasts of No Nation) and David Lee (Life of Pi).

Cho currently stars in Searching, the acclaimed Sundance thriller which is earning him raves and opens Friday in a platform release. He recently wrapped production on a remake of The Grudge and will next star in The Oath, the Ike Barinholtz comedy which is set to premiere at the Los Angeles Film Festival.

Cho is repped by UTA, 3 Arts Entertainment and Barnes Morris.

Yang, who is also known for his work on NBC comedy Parks and Recreation, is repped by WME and KcKuin Frankel. He won an Emmy with Aziz Ansari for his writing work on Master of None.

Ko is repped by Abrams Artists Agency, Artists First and Bloom Hergott. Ma, who will be seen in the live-action Mulan, is repped by BRS/Gage Talent Agency and Echelon Talent Management.
