Sundance: John Krasinski's 'The Hollars' Goes to Sony Pictures Classics

Krasinski directed and also stars in the film, along with Margo Martindale and Richard Jenkins.

Sony Pictures Classics has picked up all U.S. and Asian rights to John Krasinski’s comedy-drama The Hollars.

The second feature directed by the actor, best known for playing Jim Halpert on The Office, debuts tonight at the Sundance Film Festival.

In The Hollars, written by Jim Strouse, Krasinski portrays a graphic novelist who returns home when his mother, played by Margo Martindale, is diagnosed with a brain tumor. The cast also includes Richard Jenkins, Sharlto Copley, Anna Kendrick, Charlie Day, Josh Groban, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Randall Park.

Krasinski also produced the film along with Tom Rice, Allyson Seeger and Ben Nearn. Executive producers are Michael London, Janice Williams, Mike Sablone and Strouse

The deal was negotiated with WME Global, repping the filmmakers.
