Oscars: John Legend Performs Nominated Songs From 'La La Land'

The Oscar-winning singer took the stage to perform "City of Stars'" and "Audition" from the best picture-nominated musical, in which he starred alongside Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone.

John Legend took to the stage Sunday to perform two nominated songs from director Damien Chazelle's hit musical La La Land at the 89th Academy Awards.

Legend tickled the ivories of a grand piano while dancers circled lampposts before a backdrop of starry Los Angeles, painted in purple hues. He crooned both "City of Stars" and "Audition (The Fools Who Dream)," weaving between the two nominated songs in one seamless performance.

Up for 14 Oscars, La La Land tied 1997's Titanic and 1950's All About Eve for the most nominations by a single film.

Legend, who stars in the film as a successful jazz musician, performed the songs which were originally performed by stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone in the pic.

Legend's arrangement was also made available digitally on Apple Music.
