John Oliver Reads YouTube Comments Praising His Eyebrows, Comparing Him to Pokemon
The 'Last Week Tonight' host is told he "looks like a mix of a Pokemon and a child molester" in volume 2 of "fan mail."
John Oliver's Last Week Tonight was off again on Sunday but, in what has become a tradition while the show is on hiatus, the host released another web-only video on YouTube. This week, he took on another batch of YouTube comments in the show's second "fan mail" segment.
He began by joking about the show's YouTube broadcast, claiming the platform makes it seem like he's "about to give the least-anticipated makeup tutorial of all time."
"I'm sorry but now is not the time I share my patented contouring technique, which I call, 'John-touring'," he joked.
Then he moved on to the comments, calling them "the most cogent written argument for never learning how to read." He started off with some positive feedback, from a viewer complimenting him on his "magnificent eyebrows." Oliver joked, "Step off, Cara Delevingne."
Then came the insults. Oliver was told he looked like "a mix of a Pokemon and a child molester" and that he serves his "corporate masters well." The latter comment, which also called the host an "unfunny live action Beaker," "really hurt" Oliver, he explained, because he doesn't like being "out-comedianed" by YouTube commenters.
He also wasn't bothered by the fact someone told him he's aged a lot. Oliver pointed out all this did was confirm he's succeeded at his number one life goal: "not dying in a significant way."
The last comment took the cake, though, and led the host to joke he may not return from his hiatus. Watch below.
