John Woodward named MD of Arts Alliance

UKFC CEO joins European media venture capital company

LONDON – John Woodward, who recently resigned as CEO of the U.K. Film Council, has joined European media venture capital company Arts Alliance as its managing director.

Woodward takes up the reins in November when he severs ties with the Council.

Arts Alliance is a privately owned investment group responsible for founding several media businesses such as online movie rentailer LOVEFiLM International and Arts Alliance Media, the British-based d-cinema integrator.

In addition to his role as Arts Alliance managing director, Woodward will become the chairman of both Arts Alliance Media and the Met Film School, Britain's largest private film school.

Thomas Hoegh, founder of Arts Alliance and partner in Hoegh Capital Partners, said Woodward's industry experience would help identify new investment and business development opportunities for the firm.

Said Hoegh: "His [Woodward's] deep understanding of the sector and his ability to nurture growth opportunities will enable Arts Alliance to build new companies and expand its media portfolio in the years ahead."
