Johnny Depp has no qualms about laughing at himself.

While doing press for his upcoming film, Tim Burton's Alice Through the Looking Glass, the actor, who reprises his role of the Mad Hatter, poked fun at himself after he and wife Amber Heard made an awkward apology video for illegally bringing their dogs into Australia.

“I’m going to do this everywhere I go. I would really like to apologize for not smuggling my dogs into England, because it would have been a bad thing to do,” Depp joked. "Because the Australians, though chipper, and..." the actor trailed off when other castmates began joking, too.

The actual 42-second court-mandated video by the couple went viral due to the fact it was so awkward. Late night talk show hosts, such Stephen Colbert, had a field day with the video.

The apology, posted by the Australian Government Department of Agriculture and Water Resources, has more than 4.7 million views.
